Aluminium Bronze is by no means an easy metal to cast, but a good foundry who understands the material can make excellent castings with minimal scrap. The most difficult problem in the founding of aluminium bronze is the prevention of oxide formation on the metal in the mould. Even the slightest turbulence in the metal stream may give rise to trouble. Flow rates should not exceed more than 75mm per second and it is the cross sectional areas of the runners and gates that determine this speed. Temperature and frictional losses also affect the speed at which the metal enters the mould but these are difficult to calculate accurately.
Any severe change of direction, splashing, turbulence, dropping from a height of more than 10mm, swirling or squirting will cause the formation of dross, possibly resulting in a scrapped casting. But we at ICAST are proud to say we have developed expertise in AB2 castings over a period of time with invaluable experience, technical knowhow, state of the art machineries and methods for process control at each stage to develop perfect AB2 castings.
Be it AB2 castings with || non-symmetrical shape || Smaller parts with fine details || Parts that have internal structures || Tight tolerances and thin walls , we do it all. And due to regular pouring of AB2 and other non-ferrous castings in high volume, we can even facilitate any sample/ low volume order in Aluminium Bronze or other similar grades.
We have done AB2 castings with components weighing of steam pressure valve components from as low as 100gram & wall thickness 0.25” to impellers & valve body as high as 40kgs & wall thickness 8’’. At ICAST, our experience has allowed us to form very good relationships with industry leaders in the supply of raw material for our foundry which allows us to deliver your castings at the lowest prices and our quality promise means that you will only receive components that gain our seal of approval.
